Factagora helps Shin & Kim move faster—with trust.
The Problem
Shin & Kim LLC, one of Korea’s leading law firms, faced significant challenges in leveraging its vast legal knowledge base. Despite maintaining an internal repository of over 350,000 legal documents, the firm struggled with inefficient search functionality and a lack of systematic management within its Knowledge Management System (KMS). As a result, finding relevant legal resources was time-consuming, and reusing valuable precedents and insights proved difficult.
In parallel, the firm began experimenting with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT to support legal workflows. However, frequent factual inaccuracies—such as citations of non-existent laws or incorrect precedents—led to increased verification workloads and growing skepticism about the reliability of AI-generated outputs.
The Solution
To address the challenges faced by Shin & Kim LLC, we implemented a solution centered on FactBlocks and a structured Source of Truth (SoT) approach—designed to enhance the precision, transparency, and usability of AI-assisted legal research.
1. High-Precision Search with FactBlocks
We restructured over 350,000 internal legal documents into modular FactBlocks—discrete, verifiable units of legal knowledge. This enabled high-accuracy search results tailored to each query, vastly outperforming the firm’s existing Knowledge Management System in both speed and relevance.
2. Drafting and Reasoning Built on Source of Truth (SoT)
FactBlocks are compiled into AI-generated legal drafts grounded in a structured Source of Truth, delivering concise summaries, comparative insights, and fully traceable outputs. Each response includes direct links to the specific clause or phrase used, ensuring transparency and factual accuracy.
3. Interactive and Scalable Knowledge Framework
Users can dynamically manage FactBlocks within a SoT—adding, removing, or reorganizing them to suit specific legal contexts. Edits are instantly reflected in outputs. Embedded tools such as translation, summarization, and categorization further streamline research, helping professionals reuse insights across cases.
The Result
Trusted by 700+ Legal Professionals: Proven Gains in Efficiency, Accuracy, and Adoption
After adopting Factagora’s legal research solution, Shin & Kim LLC and its legal professionals experienced measurable improvements in both research productivity and trust in AI-generated outputs.
1. Measurable Productivity Gains
Over a three-week period, 299 legal professionals at the firm used Factagora’s assistant for their day-to-day legal research.
75% of survey respondents reported a reduction in research time by 20% or more
97% expressed a willingness to continue using the tool in their workflow
Among users who created or edited FactBlocks through LiveArticle, 69.2% found the feature useful for organizing and refining legal insights
2. Clearer and More Accurate Answers (vs. GPT-4o)
In a head-to-head evaluation of legal verification tasks:
52% of Factagora’s responses were rated superior to GPT-4o
40% were considered equivalent
Only 8% favored GPT-4o
Legal professionals found our responses to be more structured, contextually appropriate, and better aligned with legal reasoning.
3. Higher Relevance of Supporting Evidence (vs. RAG)
Factagora also outperformed traditional Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems in surfacing truly relevant evidence.
For expert-verified queries with no applicable legal source, Factagora correctly identified the absence of evidence in 96% of cases
By contrast, baseline RAG systems frequently returned topically similar but legally irrelevant documents, risking misinformation
These results show Factagora’s impact in helping legal teams work faster, trust more, and deliver higher-quality research with confidence.
